Founded by husband and wife partnership of master watchmaker and antiquarian horologist, Craig and Dr Rebecca Struthers; the Struthers watchmaking studio combines their years of experience in vintage and antique watch restoration with award-winning design and research.
Their critically acclaimed first watch Stella, 2013, received multiple awards collecting a Design Innovation Award for ground-breaking design in platinum and a Commendation from the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council. Since then, the Struthers have collaborated with British sports car manufacturer Morgan Motor Company and showed at several major exhibitions including Palexpo, Geneva and the Saatchi Gallery, London.
The Struthers met in 2004 whilst training as watchmakers at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. Between them, the Struthers have studied and qualified in watchmaking, jewellery, silversmithing, fine art, gemmology and history of design; allowing them to apply their broad range of experiences to create a fusion between heritage fine craftsmanship and 21st-century technology. In 2017, Rebecca became the first watchmaker in British history to earn a PhD in horology.
While they work on their first in-house movement, they specialise in re-commissioning vintage and antique watch movements created in England, America and Switzerland which they rescue from the bullion trade and return to functional pieces of history.
Struthers completed Walpole’s Crafted programme in 2017.
