LUXX evolves with a new thoughtful and sophisticated approach

The former editor of Tatler, Kate Reardon, who was appointed as the editor-in-chief of LUXX in March, brings a new ethos for the glossy magazine that celebrates the best of everything – to engage wealthy audiences with a nuanced, sophisticated and intelligent tone.

Reardon has added a high-calibre roster of new columnists and editorial features designed to appeal to LUXX’s well-informed, influential and discerning audience.

New contributors include The Times’ columnists Hugo Rifkind, Giles Coren and Sathnam Sanghera, plus the producer and cultural commentator Emma Freud and the journalist and BBC broadcaster Matthew Sweet. The Times’ science editor, Tom Whipple, has written the September edition’s lead story, exploring the psychological impact of privilege, wealth and success.

A new regular column is the Humanity Test – Dame Natalie Massenet takes the test in the September issue and reveals what’s really important to her. Also in the September issue is a spectacular couture shoot by Louie Banks, styled by Sophie Pera, and the magazine will sport a revamped regular shopping page, curated by the American Vogue writer Hayley Bloomingdale, of the Bloomingdale shopping dynasty.

Kate Reardon commented:
We treat LUXX readers like they’re the most sophisticated people on the planet because they are. In the luxury landscape, there’s an unfortunate trend for reporting on only the most expensive goods and services. This one-dimensional approach doesn’t work, as Tom Whipple says in his brilliant piece, ‘Money is too powerful a psychological driver and psychology is too powerful a monetary one for the two to be kept separate.’

Reardon replaced Jeremy Langmead, who continues as the editor-at-large alongside his role at MR PORTER, having led a successful relaunch of LUXX in 2016.

In addition to this Saturday’s issue, the next editions of LUXX published are 3rd November and 1st December.
