WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS
This year has already delivered international recognition for the brand, with RWD winning best refit category at the prestigious World Superyacht Awards in Florence for their refit of the super-yacht, AQUILA. The award, which RWD shares with partners in the project, Pendennis and Sue Young Interiors, acknowledges the transformation of AQUILA, creating a sophisticated and contemporary interior through innovative design and extraordinary attention to detail.
Speaking about the award, Justin Redman, Founder and CEO at RWD commented, “We are thrilled that the refit of AQUILA has received such important recognition as our aim is always to surpass our clients’ expectations and to create the world’s finest yachts.”
RWD’s distinctive approach to design, working side-by-side with its clients to create exceptional vessels both inside and out, is captured unequivocally in its most recent project: the 73 metre superyacht, Hasna.
Over the course of the five-year project, RWD was tasked with creating spaces which focusses on family life and includes accommodation for 12 guests, cinema room, treatment room and all of the luxuries befitting a yacht of this calibre, including a Teppanyaki bar.
RWD’s interiors team have designed many key pieces of bespoke lighting and furniture built by skilled craftspeople from across the globe; including prestigious furniture makers, Silverlining and Walpole member LINLEY, in the UK, renowned Australian cabinet maker David Boucher and lighting pendants by silversmith Theresa Nguyen, a talented discovery from RWD’s support of Walpole’s Crafted programme.
Of the exterior, Charlie Baker, project manager at RWD explains, “The brief was to create a timeless exterior profile with lots of subtle details, many of which are inspired by an automotive aesthetic. Hasna’s profile has an understated elegance interrupted by standout features such as the giant swimming pool on the aft deck with its infinity waterfall and curved glass sections.”
The result is a Superyacht which demonstrates RWD’s genuine spirit for original design excellence across the entire yacht design spectrum.
