Walpole Members at London Craft Week

London Craft Week returns to the capital for its fourth edition from 9th to 13th May 2018. Celebrating outstanding British and international creativity, this year the festival brings together over 200 established and emerging makers, designers, brands and galleries from around the world. Over 40 of those 200 are Walpole members, Brands of Tomorrow or partners.

Central

Alexandra Llewellyn Battersea Power Station hosts alumni from Walpole’s Crafted: Makers of the Exceptional programme, including Alexandra Llewellyn. The pop-up celebrates a decade of makers across various disciplines demonstrating their skills, talking about their inspirations and telling their stories. Read more

5 Hertford Street hosts board game makers Alexandra Llewellyn, Geoffrey Parker, Pickett London, Purling London and Simpson London, along with journalist Caroline Roux, for an evening in celebration of the handmade bespoke board game.

Asprey Visit Asprey’s flagship London store to see the brand’s in-house craftspeople demonstrate their specialist embossing and engraving techniques. Read more

Bamford Balance: An Exhibition by Sebastian Cox in Collaboration with Bamford. Bamford and Sebastian Cox present light, perfectly balanced pieces of suspended sculpture, handcrafted from English wood and spilling with native flowers and leaves. Read more

Bremont Join Bremont co-founder Nick English and Toby Bateman of MR PORTER for a talk on craftsmanship, manufacturing and the revival of British watchmaking. Read more

Gieves & Hawkes Gieves & Hawkes’ history is rooted in its naval heritage, having been founded in 1785 primarily as a naval tailor. See cutters and makers demonstrate the making of a peacoat, which was standard wear for petty officers in the British Royal Navy and often made by Gieves & Hawkes. Read more

Henry Poole & Co. The craft behind making a bespoke dinner jacket. British bespoke tailors Henry Poole demonstrate the craft behind evening wear. One of their cutters is on hand to talk you through the art of pattern cutting, alongside coat-makers who give an insight into the traditional methods used to make a jacket. Read more

Little Halstock Berry Bros. & Rudd and Little Halstock present an evocation of Berry Bros. & Rudd’s home at No.3 St James’s Street. Read more

Mulberry Join leather experts and craftsmen for a drinks reception at the Mulberry flagship store and discover how some of the brand’s most iconic bags are brought to life. Craft demonstrations are also taking place in store on Friday and Saturday. Read more

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Jayne invites guests to choose and customise their favourite perfume with Linda Jayne, using oils from the Ormonde Jayne private library. Guests leave with a 30ml bottle of bespoke perfume. Read more

Selfridges The Flipside at Selfridges. The Flipside is a multisensory exhibition held by Selfridges in The Old Selfridges Hotel – a vast, one-of-a-kind location. Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour is holding an inspiring masterclass as part of LCW. Join journalist Charlotte Abrahams as she talks to a panel of renowned experts – interior designer Suzy Hoodless, Georgina Wood, design director of David Collins Studio and Lizzie Deshayes, co-founder of Fromental – about the true meaning of bespoke in interior design today.

Tessa Packard London Designer Tessa Packard chairs a panel discussion exploring the theme of jewellery as art and the place of the maker in history. She is joined by renowned experts including jeweller to the stars Andrew Prince, Elisabetta Cipriani, founder of the eponymous ‘Wearable Art’ gallery in Mayfair and the former European Jewellery Director at Christie’s, Raymond Sancroft-Baker.
