Let Britain Fly
“Britain leads the world in high-end, high-value retail. We need an airport to match.”
Walpole welcomed Gavin Hayes, Director of Let Britain Fly, to Home House on Wednesday 24th February 2016, for a Walpole member briefing on the Airports Issue and the Heathrow expansion. About Let Britain Fly
London First launched the independent Let Britain Fly campaign in November 2013 with the support of a coalition of over 100 national business leaders, business organisations, industry bodies and economists.
After almost three years of campaigning to expand the south-east’s airport capacity, the government has finally announced its clear support for a third runway at Heathrow Airport. A short document highlighting the campaign’s achievements and major milestones can be seen here.
Now we have a favoured scheme from the government, the campaign has achieved its prime aim. The debate now passes to parliament and the public consultation. London First will continue working to ensure the UK follows an aviation policy that keeps us trading with the world, and ensure that we make best use of all of our airports in the meantime, particularly through improving rail links.
