The coverage generated as a direct result of the 2006 visits can be seen above. * Please note all the translations were done locally. | As part of the Great Britain – Greatest Brands initiative last August, Walpole created two luxury press visits to the UK. Working in conjunction with VisitBritain and Visit Scotland, invitations were issued to selected journalists to experience Walpole Britain. Walpole created detailed itineraries which were designed, in the limited time available, to showcase Walpole Luxury Britain.
The first group, in early September, comprised of three Chinese, three Russian, two Brazilian and one Argentinian writers who visited a number of members in London enjoying generous hospitality throughout, travelled to the Goodwood Revival Meeting on the Orient Express, watched the Edinburgh Festival Fireworks from the roof of the Balmoral Hotel and sampled the splendours of Gleneagles - a very luxurious press trip indeed.
The second group, in October, of four senior US writers, had a similar welcome and luxury experience in London, adding some Walpole culture to their visit at the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery – a private view of the David Hockney exhibition conducted by the Gallery Director was just a part of their special treatment. In Scotland they visited Walpole’s most northerly members at Walkers Shortbread, Johnstons and the Glenfiddich distillery before enjoying Gleneagles, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
