Sybarite is an agile practice of architects and designers that create immersive, multi-sensory and seductive environments.
Sybarite’s clients are from the worlds of retail, restaurants and hotels, all sharing the desire to create spaces that are tactile, intimate and encourage interaction.
The studio hails from all over the globe with each member adding their own flavor to how Sybarite thinks, acts and works, united by an appreciation for the finer things in life.
Sybarite co-founders Torquil McIntosh and Simon Mitchell met while working for the late Jan Kaplický at Future Systems. They formed Sybarite, on the founding principles of collaboration and openness. This is how Sybarite works with its clients, taking time to understand their needs and values, encouraging their involvement and providing fluid communication throughout the project. It tells the clients’ stories, not its own.
Since 2002 Sybarite has created more than 1,500 projects for global brands in the worlds of lifestyle and hospitality, conquering the luxury retail sector in particular with projects for Marni, Joseph, Alberta Ferretti and upscale department store operator SKP in China, to name a few.
In 2016 Sybarite was awarded a prestigious Queen’s Award for ‘Enterprise for Innovation & Export’, largely due to the its work in China. Today the practice operates from a spacious custom-designed rooftop studio in west London.
Future projects on the drawing board include restaurants, a cinema brand, large-scale high-end shopping malls in Asia and the UAE and several prestigious, heritage fashion brands.
