Fortnum & Mason celebrates Chinese New Year traditions of family and feasting with an exclusive event and special afternoon tea.

On Monday 4th February to kick off the Chinese New Year celebrations, guests will be welcomed to the Drawing Room in The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon to sit down for 4pm, when the clock strikes midnight at China Standard Time. A toast to the New Year will be commemorated with a special Champagne Cocktail, the Fortnum’s Fortune and diners will be treated to a deliciously curated Chinese Afternoon Tea menu.

To continue the feasting, The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon will host a memorable Chinese New Year Afternoon Tea from 5th to 13th of February.

Finger sandwiches include Rare Breed Hen’s Egg Mayonnaise with English Cress, Cucumber with Mint Cream Cheese, Suffolk Ham with English Mustard, Fortnum’s Smoked Salmon with Tartare Dressing and Coronation Chicken.

Fortnum’s freshly baked scones are presented with clotted cream along with Fortnum’s Strawberry Preserve & Lemon Curd and on the highest tier, a delicious plate of patisserie. This includes Kumquat Cheesecake, Raspberry, Lychee and Coconut Cake, Rose Choux Bun, Almond and Spiced Pear Mini Loaf and a Sesame and Jivara Milk Chocolate Mousse.

The Gallery Chinese New Year Menu

The Chinese New Year celebrations will continue on into The Gallery at Fortnum & Mason with a special menu. Highlights include, Cured Wild Sea Bass with Pickled Radish and Ginger, Deep fried Sea Bream with Chilli, Garlic and Soy Dressing and Steamed Pork Bun. To finish,  Baked Banana is served with 5 spices and Caramel Ice cream
