Brand Snapshot | Claridge’s Art Deco Easter Egg: Inspired by the iconic black & white lobby

Claridge’s Easter Egg marks the arrival of spring in London with the signature design combining themes of timeless glamour and rich Art Deco heritage taken from the hotel’s surroundings. For  over a century, the hotel’s Art Deco checkerboard lobby has welcomed Royalty, dignitaries and celebrities alike, and serves as the inspiration of the iconic Claridge’s Easter Egg.

Pastry Chef Yago Doamo has created 100 limited-edition Deco eggs using the finest Valrhona dark, milk and white chocolate. Each egg is filled with a selection of hand-made chocolate praline quail eggs and hand-wrapped in a glamorous eau de nil coloured box. The Claridge’s Easter Egg is covered in bespoke black and white Art Deco foil and tied with a black satin bow.

The specialised and delicate craft of chocolate-making is put to the test as Claridge’s pastry team gathers every year to create the iconic Easter Eggs for the season. Using the finest cacaos, it takes three days to carefully craft each one, from hand tempering and moulding the chocolate to create two halves which are filled with hand-made chocolate praline quail eggs. The eggs are then closed with absolute precision after which the black and white foil is applied to protect the chocolate and add a touch of Deco glamour. One tonne of chocolate is consumed at Claridge’s every year.

Claridge’s Easter Eggs are priced at £50 and can be purchased directly from the hotel or online at
