Brand Snapshot | SS19 at The Conran Shop – a tribute to 100 years of Bauhaus design
Over the course of the year, The Conran Shop will be marking the Bauhaus centenary with a series of exclusive product collaborations, installations and events.
To pay homage to this influential design movement, the brand is launching a curated collection of iconic pieces influenced by the era, including an all-‐new lighting series, homeware and gifts from international designers whose work continues the Bauhaus legacy.
The Conran Shop’s SS19 range also includes UK exclusives from German brand TECTA, such as the iconic D4E Folding Chair, designed by Marcel Breuer’s, F42-‐1E Chaise Longue, by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Bauhaus Cradle, by Peter Keler’s. The brand will also embark on a Bauhaus inspired window installation inside of its iconic Michelin House store in Chelsea.
Set to launch on the 22nd of February, the window features the most iconic architectural motifs from the Bauhaus building in Dessau, Germany. Specially designed to showcase carefully select pieces from The Conran Shop’s collection, the installation mirrors the building’s statement staircases and giant gridded windows recreated as a true to scale three-‐dimensional screen-‐print. When asked to describe this ambitious project, Betsy Smith, Head of Creative Presentation, at the brand’s Chelsea store, said: “the team carefully considered which pieces should be elevated onto plinths to highlight their sculptural forms and attention to craftsmanship.”
