Chewton Glen named AA Hotel of the Year
Chewton Glen, the iconic country house hotel in Hampshire, was named as England’s AA Hotel of the Year at Monday night’s AA Hospitality Awards – a celebration of the brightest and best among the nation’s hotels, restaurants and chefs held annually at Grosvenor House, London.
Recognising the excellence of hotels, restaurants and their teams across the UK, the AA Hospitality Awards are one of the industry’s most prestigious and highly anticipated events. Attended by over 1,000 guests, the Awards were hosted by TV presenter Kate Silverton.
The judges commented that: “Over the years, Chewton Glen has never rested on its laurels. Always a leader at the highest level, as the spa, kitchen gardens and Treehouses illustrate. Investment continues, most recently ‘The Kitchen’ and cookery school, bedrooms, and terrace but also in its people. A strong management team also ensures an excellent level of consistency”
Andrew Stembridge, Managing Director of Chewton Glen and Executive Director of Iconic Luxury Hotels, a collection of luxury hotels that also includes: Cliveden House in Berkshire, who won the title in 2015; The Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds; and 11 Cadogan Gardens in the heart of Chelsea, accepted the award on behalf of the hotel. He said: “We are thrilled that Chewton Glen has been crowned ‘AA Hotel of the Year’ again, especially considering the number of very credible new hotels that have opened lately. Winning this prestigious title is undoubtedly testament to the energy, passion and creativity of the entire team who work so hard, not only to ensure that our guests always want to return, but are also focused on continually improving and innovating”.
Other Walpole members given accolades during the ceremony include Coworth Park, which received 4 Rosettes, and The Gleneagles Hotel, which was named Scotland’s Hotel of the Year.
