London Cocktail Week | Legend of the List at The Connaught Bar
It’s the final day of London Cocktail Week (and our tour of the capital’s finest five-star bars.) We end the week at The Connaught Bar – the number five Best Bar in the World – which is celebrating both its 10-year anniversary and its ranking in Wednesday’s World’s 50 Best Bars, including being named the Legend of the List.
Celebrating its 10th year, the Connaught Bar has a classic vibe without being old. The Mayfair hotel bar’s glitzy Art Deco interior, five-star service and fine, quietly confident cocktails have a timeless feel that makes this one of the best drinking destinations in the world.
Under the watchful eye of master mixologist Ago Perrone, who has been the bar’s driving force since opening, the Connaught Bar has made The World’s 50 Best Bars for nine years on the spin, making it the 2018 Heering Legend of the List.
While the famed trolley still wheels its merry way across the Connaught floor, offering one of the best Martinis in the world, the bar’s just-launched anniversary menu, the Essence of the Connaught, is another reason to come. In a departure from previous iterations, which have looked outside for inspiration, The Essence menu takes its cues from the architecture of the bar and everything within it, its marble included. Set in Stone is a gin, genever and sherry cocktail rested in a marble cask. Innovative yet classic – that’s the Connaught Bar.
