The Pitch | Sponsorship opportunity: Celebrating 100 years of British ballet at the V&A

In 2020, the Royal Academy of Dance will celebrate its centenary. A partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington will result in the mounting of a major display throughout 2020 that charts the history of British ballet – and, by definition, the history of the Royal Academy of Dance – over the preceding 100 years. It will also celebrate the current state of the art form, and look forward to an exciting future for dance.

The 11-month opportunity (the installation will run from February 2020-January 2021) will also feature activation of the space through a programme of special events and hospitality opportunities. The Theatre and Performance gallery at the V&A welcomes 300,000 visitors per annum and the museum as a whole attracts 4 million visitors per annum. Beyond the physical boundaries of the V&A, both organisations have strong online reach (collectively in excess of 750k on Facebook, 1.5m on Twitter, 1m on Instagram, 220k via e-news channels) which will be leveraged to increase exposure to the exhibition. By virtue of their prestigious brands, both organisations have access to well-developed networks of high net worth individuals.

With RAD leading the project and V&A providing venue space and seed funding, the RAD are seeking sponsorship in order to expand the scope of the exhibition to include multiple media (film, music, interactive experiences), historically significant artefacts (many of which will be on public display for the first time), and an expanded events and education programme.
