RWD – 2018 World Superyacht Triple Award Winners
RWD are delighted to announce that the studio has won three awards at the World Superyacht Awards held on Saturday 19th May in Florence, Italy.
These awards were announced at a glorious Prize Giving and Gala Dinner hosted by Boat International at the stunning venue of the Palazzo Vecchio, in Florence:
M.Y. HASNA won in the category of ‘Displacement Motor Yachts between 500GT and 1,999GT’.
Length: 73m, built by Feadship Van Lent
M.Y. FAITH won in the category of ‘Displacement Motor Yachts 2,000GT and Above’.
Length: 96m, was built by Feadship De Vries
M.Y. FAITH also won the coveted ‘Motor Yacht of the Year’. Competing against the winners of each of the eight motor yacht categories, the judges decided FAITH really was the “Very best of the best”.
M.Y. FAITH has set a new precedent for yacht building, she is an exemplary showcase for an exceptional collaboration between RWD and Chahan Interior Design. Her exterior design, elegant and balanced, with a purity of line and quietness of detail, is a new standard for quality, class and subtlety.
At 96.6m in length, FAITH’s general arrangement is created entirely to satisfy the Owner’s intended private use: for family and friends to spend time together. Providing both privacy for guests onboard and open and welcoming common areas, RWD evolved innovative solutions to achieve this. With a triple aspect Beach Club on the lower deck this is at the heart of the social spaces. The area can be visually enlarged by opening the transom and fold-down side terraces.
Positioned over the Beach Club, the 9.4m pool is without doubt one of the most incredible engineering achievements in modern yachting constructed from only 12 panels of the largest curved laminated and toughened glass panels available in the world. The 2.5m deep section of the pool is flanked by an oversized bar, perfect for entertainment on a grand scale. Fully clad from floor to ceiling in high gloss varnished teak, the Beach Club provides an informal yet impressive space for relaxing and entertaining. An extraordinary entrance to an extraordinary and elegant yacht.
FAITH also houses two award winning RWD designed, bespoke tenders, also built by Feadship, for the first time.
The 73.5m M.Y. HASNA. is a true family Feadship, blending a variety of stunning interior spaces elegantly detailed within a timeless sculpted exterior. The brief given to RWD was to create an exterior profile with the most elegant line and no extremes of volume. With the creation of graceful staircases, RWD have ensured an exceptional flow of the exterior and interior spaces unifying the movement throughout the boat.
A key part of HASNA’s design is the way she offers distinctive areas for all generations of the family at various times of the day, whether swimming on the main deck in the 8m pool, or relaxing on the sun deck, around the indoor/outdoor bar and lounging area.
RWD worked with craftspeople predominantly from the UK and Australia to design the bespoke lighting and furniture aboard M.Y HASNA. The furniture was beautifully crafted by one of Australia’s most talented cabinet makers, using native timbers set off by the many exquisite bespoke pieces, such as the incredibly detailed Frangipani inspired chandelier made by a wonderfully talented UK based silversmith.
Vikal of Freemantle, Australia built the RWD designed tenders which complement and complete the highly bespoke Australian picture.
Upon receiving the World Superyacht Awards for FAITH and HASNA, Justin Redman, founding partner of RWD, said: “This year is the 25th anniversary of RWD and what a way to celebrate it! Over the years we have been privileged to have shaped the exterior and interiors of over 75 yachts ranging from 35m to 155m and we are so very proud of the RWD team and all that we have achieved together with both FAITH and HASNA. Congratulations to our Owners, the builders and to all those involved. These awards are a true accolade to everyone and nothing would have been possible without the great teams of craftspeople who worked extremely hard to ensure every design detail was delivered.”
