21 Days of Christmas | Celebrate with Lisa Stevens, Head of Gifting at The Royal Mint
As one of the world oldest established organisations, the Royal Mint has celebrated over 1,100 Christmases – and while they are traditionally known for making coins, this year they’ve branched out into an opulent array of gifts. In today’s ‘Celebrate with…’ we spoke to The Royal Mint’s Head of Gifting, Lisa Stevens, on what you should be giving this festive season – and how she will be enjoying Christmas day at Claridge’s this year.
“Advent calendars are really on-trend right now, and not just for children. Different types are on the market, with a plethora of gin, perfume and even pork scratching versions! Our version features The Royal Mint Christmas Nutcracker £5 coin, with gold foil wrapped chocolate coins.
For Christmas lunch why not treat the family to a box of our crackers? Our gold version has six crackers with gifts including a gold bar, diamond necklace and gold cufflinks inside – no more mini screwdrivers! We also do a silver version too, with Royal Mint sterling silver gifts such as silver compact mirrors, silver honey drizzlers and silver bookmarks. A snip at £5,000 for the gold option and £500 for silver.
Other gifts include a range of beautifully crafted silver Christmas tree decorations, all handmade in Britain with our own Hallmark, featuring the Tower of London – our home for over 500 years. Silver accessories, silk scarves, leather purses and wallets and a gorgeous teddy are all great gifting ideas available from royalmint.com.

How will you be celebrating Christmas this year?
For me, this is the first time in 25 years I’ve not had to cook for my huge family. The children (who are both away this year for the first time) think my husband and I are going to be at home; we’re actually sneaking off to Claridge’s to let someone else look after us. We’ll be enjoying a carriage ride around Hyde Park, carols by the fabulous Diane von Furstenberg-designed tree, and a cocktail or two in the bar…
What gift are you hoping to receive in your stocking?
A Purple Water giftset from Asprey’s, Shaun Leane earrings and another beehive.
What is your favourite/family Christmas tradition?
I love putting the tree up – the smell of it, and the memories from the baubles I’ve saved over the years.
Favourite festive film and song?
It has to be ‘The Holiday’, watched with a box of tissues, some stollen and a mulled wine.
Best place to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere?
At home with family and friends.
Top tip for surviving the festive season in style?
Eat, drink and be merry – and always have a spare gift for unexpected visitors.
