21 Days of Christmas Celebrate with... Cowdray’s CEO, Jonathan Russell
How will you be celebrating Christmas this year? Traditionally! With stockings, Church, cocktails at The Spread Eagle in Midhurst, whilst the turkey cooks, a glass of Chapel Down and a roaring fire – complete with black labrador.

What gift are you hoping to receive in your stocking? I’m an exercise fanatic; the TOMTOM watch my wife gave me last year is going to take a lot of beating. Sadly Father Christmas only seems to visit the younger generation in our house, but I do aspire to one day be the proud owner of an exquisite Alexandra Llewellyn backgammon set.

What is your favourite family Christmas tradition? We have two essential outings: the first is to Olympia for The London International Horse Show and, of course, Christmas would be incomplete without a trip to the panto.

Best place to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere? London is unbeatable and we’re heading to The Dorchester for tea. Cowdray is very special too – we choose a tree with the Head Forester and the Farm Shop is a haven filled with Christmas treats and an excellent traditional butcher.

Top tip for surviving the festive season in style? Ensuring we have happy guests at Cowdray House and the knowledge that I’ll be on the slopes for the New Year.
