Tuscany and France to unwind and for the delicious food. I have also been going to Tangier since I was 14, which has had a big influence on my career, love of backgammon, and my designs - in particular the Palm backgammon board, one of my signature designs.
What is your ‘must-have’ item to pack in your suitcase?
A travel backgammon set in the burgundy / pale pink colour way. I recently launched a new range of these sets inspired by some of my most known designs - The Palm, The Deco, and The Black and White Feather Set - as I was receiving many requests for travel versions from my existing and new clients.
Where is your favourite al fresco drinking/dining spot?
The Surf Club in Miami. I just returned back from hosting a Backgammon event there and they do an incredible whisky sour which you can enjoy overlooking the ocean.
What is your holiday read this year?
I am currently reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and How to Fail by Elizabeth Day. I'm also never without the latest copy of World of Interiors.
Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?
I was playing in Tangier one evening under the stars and was inspired to create a round backgammon and chess board. I realised that actually backgammon is a circular game, but for thousands of years its been played on a square board. It takes just a couple of games to get your head around it, and then it's far more logical than playing the traditional square version. This was also the inspiration for my most recent design, which is a round Zodiac Board inspired by astrology and the concept of time. This board is a timeless objet d’art bringing to life the true art of marquetry, taking luxury gaming to the next level.
