Ewan Venters to leave Walpole member Fortnum & Mason
Ewan Venters will join Hauser & Wirth as Global Chief Executive early in 2021 after eight years at the helm of Fortnum & Mason.
Ewan joined Fortnum & Mason with the vision to make the iconic British luxury brand more relevant to more people more often, and under his leadership the 313-year-old store recorded exceptional growth: last year Fortnum & Mason announced the seventh year of double digit sales growth, and saw profits rise by 26%. “Ewan has been a highly successful leader of this business,” said Kate Hobhouse, Chairman of Fortnum’s, “delivering consistent growth in profits, extending the footprint of the brand with new stores and driving product innovation.”
It’s a tremendous wrench to leave Fortnum’s, which is truly one of the world’s great brands.”
Winner of Walpole’s Luxury Leader of the Year at the 2019 Walpole Awards (pictured above), Ewan has been a committed and passionate supporter of British brands and a powerful advocate for British luxury at home and abroad, not least in his role as an ambassador for the GREAT campaign. “It’s a tremendous wrench to leave Fortnum’s, which is truly one of the world’s great brands,” he said last night, “It is, however, time for a new challenge and I have no doubt that Fortnum’s is in excellent shape to navigate the uncertainty caused by the pandemic and is well positioned for future growth.”
In the wake of Fortnum & Mason posting record double digit growth, today's Season of Luxury profile features the renowned department store's CEO and Walpole Award-winning Luxury Leader, Ewan Venters, who is in for a very jolly Christmas indeed, spent - in part - in the glorious Scottish Highlands.
