Global Blue's figures show that in August, tax-free sales from international visitors in London were down -16% year-on-year. Chinese visitors remained London’s biggest tax-free spenders, accounting for 33% of all tax free sales in August with a significant average spend of £1,499 per transaction. Despite being the capital’s largest spenders, tax-free sales from Chinese visitors was down -13% year-on-year in August. The second highest spending groups were visitors from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, both representing 7% of all tax-free sales in London, followed by visitors from UAE and Kuwait representing 6% of sales. In August, visitors from United States represented 5% of tax-free sales. Qatar and the United States were the only nationalities to see growth in tax-free sales in the month of August, growing by +8% and +7% year-on-year respectively.
