Luxury Leader Ed Eisler, Founder, JING

In the company’s early years Ed forged relationships with the most discerning and celebrated chefs and restaurants including Heston Blumenthal and Joel Robuchon. Today JING is the tea brand of choice for the world’s leading hotels, restaurants and airlines. Ed is considered a pioneer in finding and sharing rare and precious teas previously hidden to the world and transforming traditional approaches to tea making to suit a modern audience.

WHAT DOES BRITISH LUXURY MEAN TO YOU?

For me the heart of British luxury lies in high quality, sustainable materials and true craftsmanship. A piece that is carefully and traditionally made, with a clean, simple design. No extravagance, just pure excellence in every detail.

WHAT’S YOUR VISION FOR JING?

My mission since I launched JING 15 years ago has been to revolutionise tea culture. To offer people the depth, taste and quality of the best tea drinking experience that is easily possible when you choose high quality, single garden teas and prepare them using teaware that makes it a simple, daily ritual. It becomes so more than a cup of tea – it’s an experiential connection to the people and origin of each authentic tea.

WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE FUTURE OF LUXURY? In our fast-paced modern world of instant gratification and constant communication, I see luxury in authenticity and simplicity.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

I love travelling and draw inspiration from meeting people from different cultures and exploring their worlds.

WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE ENTERING THE LUXURY INDUSTRY NOW? Simply ensure that you give true value to your consumer and to the planet.

IN A PARALLEL LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING? I would spend as much time as I could in a retreat in the mountains.

WHAT’S YOUR BEST LUXURY UNDER £10? Without question my ultimate luxury would be a walk by a beautiful river. Simple nature. No money required.

JING’s first retail store opens on Monday 18th November at 18-19 St Christopher’s Place, London W1.  Visit jingtea.com

To mark JING’s fifteenth anniversary and to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first physical store, Ed is offering recipients of this email a complimentary Tea Flight in the new JING store.  These immersive tea tastings led by trained JING experts will take small groups on a 45-minute tasting experience that brings to life the history, myths and culture of tea.
