A Summer of Luxury | Holiday with… Boodles’ James Amos

It is day two of Walpole’s Summer of Luxury campaign, and we have Boodles’ director James Amos in the hot seat discussing his plans for the Official Month of Summer – from where to holiday to what to read.

What is your favourite holiday destination?
Thurlestone in South Devon. I’ve been there every summer of my life – it’s all about golf, tennis, beaches and the odd party or two.

What is your top tip for surviving the summer heat in style?
Avoid the Central Line on the Underground.

Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?
Yes, I decided to join our family business Boodles whilst having a pint with my step-father in the pub in Thurlestone. It was the second best decision I have ever made (the first one obviously being to marry my wife!).

What is your holiday read this year?
There won’t be much time for books with three children under the age of six, but I’ll be delighted if I can read ‘The English Garden’ magazine from cover to cover.
