What is your holiday read this year?
Stephen:
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng Jane: Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, Tiny Birds from Faraway by Christie Watson and Patria by Fernando Aramburu. What is your favourite holiday destination?
Stephen:
Haraki – Greece. Our niece and great niece live there and Jane worked in Lindos many, many years ago for an artist and still has very good friends who live there. Or LA where our son lives. We go and see him every year and this time we are all going to Mexico for a week as well. We also try and fit in a trip to Bolinas in Marin County just outside San Francisco where we have some very old friends who we stay with. Bolinas is a little paradise.Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime? Jane: We try quite hard not to talk about business or even think about business when we are on holiday as we work together, live together and go on holiday together. However we inevitably do end up talking about it. When we were in Abu Dhabi on a shoot for CNN, Stephen was being filmed on a traditional Arab Dhow (traditional sailing vessel), watching how the locals dived for pearls. I had the idea that it would be lovely to mix pearls and wood together to make something special and unusual and Stephen came up with a beautiful design which we are making at the moment.
What is your top tip for surviving the summer heat in style? Jane: To buy lots of lovely new summer clothes! Oh and shoes… I love clothes so any excuse for something new like 'rising temperatures' is good for me! Stephen: Lots of lounging around with short hair and few clothes.
Stephen Einhorn’s must-have summer jewellery design is…
Jane:
For me it’s our lovely micro earrings set with diamonds. I have two in one ear and when I was walking through our showroom I accidentally helped myself to a large pair of yellow gold and diamond hoops that look fantastic with anything at all, even a swimsuit! I also love the Bee necklace in yellow gold which is really summery; I wear that a lot with all the lower necklines in the hot weather. Stephen: Our Bright Light rings – yellow gold set with black sapphires. Look good with a tan after all that lounging around! The taste of summer is… Jane: A cold margarita… not frozen that’s just wrong! Stephen: Strawberries – served with a Daiquiri or Rye Manhattan…
Favourite London summer spot?
Jane:
Hands down my favourite summer spot is Highbury Fields. It’s a great place for a picnic, there is loads of people watching to be done, it’s a lovely place to walk, play tennis, run or simply sit and listen to music. Stephen: The Heights at Langham place – shabby and weirdly unchanged for years with the best views of London.Sound of the summer...
Stephen:
In the UK, chattering Goldfinches and the lovely thwack of a tennis ball being hit crisply – sometimes by me! Abroad, the night time sounds of Cicadas and frogs. Jane: Wood pigeons cooing outside the window and the sound of a donkey braying.stepheneinhorn.co.uk
