Where will you be holidaying this year?
I’m off to Tuscany next week to watch the Palio in Sienna. It’s certainly not a busman’s holiday as it bears no resemblance to racing in the UK or anywhere else. We have dinner after the race (famously run around the city’s square in Sienna) at Osteria Le Logge. The weekend is full of parties across Tuscany, followed by hangovers assisted by pasta and grappa, this long weekend can feel like a week. Then I have another long weekend in Aix in September and that’s enough.
What is your ‘must-have’ item to pack in your suitcase?
Soap – Bois de Orange by Roger and Gallet and Love Brand swimming trunks.
Where is your favourite al fresco drinking/dining spot?
I recently went to try the Pizza by Giuseppe 'the spider' di Donato (apparently the best in the world) at his month-long residency at Harry’s Bar on South Audley Street. One car went past the terrace in an hour. It was London at it’s very best.
What is your holiday read this year?
I’m happy with the Racing Post, Private Eye and the Economist.
Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?
Every bloody time – our new in-app live chat feature was spawned via a train ride in Sri Lanka.
