A Summer of Luxury

Holiday with... Rapport London's Oliver Rapport

After a typically gloomy British bank holiday, we brighten the beginning of the working week by Holidaying with... Oliver Rapport, Director of luxury horological manufacturer Rapport, who discusses his must-have summer holiday accessories and sailing around the Balearic's (which sure beats a rain-soaked long weekend).

A Summer of Luxury Holiday with... Rapport London's Oliver Rapport
What is your holiday read? I like a good biography and being a sports fan as well my read is Alex Ferguson with Michael Moritz. I believe this came out a few year ago but it’s been on my list for some time.

What is your favourite holiday destination? As a keen boater some of my favourite holiday’s have been in the Balearic Islands. Its invigorating to travel to places that can only be reached by boat and also enjoy the long summer days with a cool sea breeze where time seems to be an abstract thing. The boat is called Tempus Fugit from the Latin meaning “time flies” which is apt for two reasons. Firstly coming from a horological background and secondly time really does fly when your having fun!

Rapport's must-have summer holiday accessory? Being an avid watch collector, I like to take suitable watches with me on holiday. The Rapport Hyde Park watch collector case is perfect for travelling in style. I like the blue leather version with the light interior as it’s got a modern feel about it. It's beautifully handcrafted and also comes in tan leather with a blue suede interior.

Have you ever had a ‘lightbulb’ moment related to your business or career while taking some downtime?

Frequently if I’m not too distracted by the kids! Holidays are the best time to put things in perspective and forget about day-to-day issues. It is also an opportunity to visit new places, see new things which can draw on a lot of inspiration.

What is your top tip for surviving the summer heat in style? Try and get to the coast or countryside as much as possible. It helps being an early riser to avoid the crowds.
