Walpole Member and storied London tailoring house dunhill has unveiled its new campaign for Autumn/Winter '22. Entitled 'Uniform', it showcases a collection with a distinct 'back to school' feeling featuring numerous nods to the very best in traditional British tailoring interpreted in a modern way: shoulders are wider, ties are skinnier, waists are more streamlined.
“This collection is a return to a certain discipline and tradition, yet there is always a simultaneous sense of British subversion within what we do and in the person who might wear dunhill," said Mark Weston, dunhill Creative Director, of the new collection. "I wanted to represent that here.”
Shot in Belgravia by photographer Scott Gallagher, decadent Regency-style interiors serve as the backdrop to the collection. Ideas of tradition and masculine uniforms run throughout the pictures, with dunhill’s authority in tailoring evident; signature jackets (with a hidden double-breasted fastening), synonymous with the House, celebrate classic British cloths in a timeless, understated way.
As you would imagine for the colder months, outerwear also featured prominently. This season’s car coat is constructed in a fine wool Prince of Wales check, while the Compendium parka is revisited in an olive green silk moire. Making direct reference to dunhill’s automotive heritage, a new Houndstooth down jacket is engineered to reflect the stitched panelling of a racing car seat.
