Welcome to Walpole Andrew Henning introduces Grosvenor House Suites

Grosvenor House Suites is an all-suites property on London’s Park Lane, overlooking Hyde Park and a short stroll from the boutiques, galleries and renowned restaurants of Mayfair. It offers the privacy and comfort of a home combined with bespoke five-star service and luxury facilities, including a fitness suite and a personal butler on request. The 130 suites all have fully-equipped kitchens and range from studios to penthouses with multiple en-suite bedrooms, separate kitchens, dining and living rooms enjoying panoramic views of the London skyline.

Here, Andrew Henning, General Manager of Grosvenor House Suites, tells us a bit more about the establishment...

Tell us about the history of your brand...

Andrew Henning: We are named after Grosvenor House, the palatial townhouse of the aristocratic Grosvenor dynasty. The Grosvenors created Mayfair and Belgravia – areas that remain the epitome of elegant London life. The name has immense cachet, as does our location facing Hyde Park, on the corner of Mount Street and Park Lane. It is synonymous with sophisticated urban living, just as it was when the Grosvenors entertained international high society here. We are proud of that glorious heritage. But Grosvenor House Suites delivers a contemporary approach to luxury and five-star service in a discreet all-suite offering where guests from around the world come to feel truly at home. This reflects the way high-net-worth clients want to travel and live today.

What is your brand best known for?

We feel Grosvenor House Suites is unlike anything else available in this great city of ours – a sanctuary that combines the services and facilities of a luxury property with the privacy, security and comfort of a home in a prestigious location. The handsomely proportioned suites and over-sized penthouses have everything you’d expect in a luxury home, while our highly trained clefs d’or concierge team are on hand to arrange everything from restaurant bookings to first-class wellness treatments, all with the utmost discretion.

What has been a significant achievement in your company's timeline?

We provide an experience that makes people want to return here again and again, and we are very grateful for the loyalty of our guests over many years. Whether they are lone travellers seeking a studio or groups and families staying in a large suite, our residents love the sense of space and the thoughtful, discreet service. Recent global events have made privacy, safety and security more important than ever for those seeking a luxury stay, which makes Grosvenor House Suites particularly attractive.

Why do you love the brand?

The aristocratic history of our site and the prestigious Park Lane and Mount Street location play their part, but what makes Grosvenor House Suites stand out is its combination of luxury service and home comforts, along with the sheer drama of our penthouses. In this all-suites property, guests can prepare a family breakfast in their own time, work out in the fitness suite, enjoy light refreshments in the Atrium, our convivial contemporary courtyard – or have a Michelin-starred chef create an exquisite meal when they entertain family or friends. And when they are ready to explore the best of the city, guests can draw on the expert knowledge of our industry-leading concierges.

Why does your brand represent the very best in British luxury?

For us, luxury is about setting exceptional standards, taking the time to understand our guests’ needs and tailoring their experience accordingly, but all delivered with a minimum of fuss. We want to convey a sense of heritage and glamour (guests at Grosvenor House Suites should feel they are staying somewhere special), but elegant understatement and warm service are equally important. A stay here is intimate, calm and cosy: in the best tradition of the British butler, staff should anticipate what a guest wants and provide it discreetly without needing to be asked. This leaves guests free to enjoy our facilities and the local area at their own unhurried pace.

What attracted you to becoming a Walpole member?

Walpole is committed to championing British luxury and craftsmanship, values that are shared by Grosvenor House Suites. The strength of the brands within the group was a key attraction for us. We are looking forward to spending time with like-minded peers and establishing exciting new collaborations.

If you could collaborate with another Walpole member, which one would you choose (and what would you like to do)?

Rather than focusing on any specific Walpole members, we hope to work with a variety of our peers to incorporate elements of craft and couture that showcase the best of British luxury. This is what our guests want to experience during their stay.

Tell us about an exciting development or new launch for your brand in the coming months?

Over the next few years Grosvenor House Suites is undergoing a multimillion-pound renovation that will further enhance its reputation as the place to experience Park Lane living. Through collaborations with fellow Walpole members, we would like to bring all the charm and glamour of Mayfair to life both inside and outside the property. Our guests want to feel like locals, and we would like to be the cornerstone of this area, showcasing the luxury, quality and skilled craftsmanship of local brands.
