Enter the Walpole Weekend Wind-Down: a monthly playlist of tracks created by one of our members or partners that will help you transition into an end-of-week headspace.
Our May playlist has been created by Cunard, the world-renowned British cruise line that's been synonymous with luxury ocean travel since the company was founded back in1840. This month sees the arrival of the cruise line's latest vessel, Queen Anne, on the high seas – the 249th ship in Cunard's history and sister to Cunard's three other regal vessels, Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
The cruise line's first new ship in 14 years, the Queen Anne has been designed to strike a new aesthetic direction for Cunard's future with spaces both public and private crafted by a plethora of interior design talents, including fellow Walpole member David Collins Studio.
Art deco-inspired decor and exciting new features define the vibe of this new vessel, designed to inspire passengers with the wide range of choice on board, covering everything from fine dining and Japanese-inspired afternoon tea in the Aji Wa restaurant to karaoke and pub fare in the Golden Lion. For entertainment, guests will enticed into captivating new worlds with immersive shows at the Bright Lights Society cabaret bar, as well as world-class West End entertainment and classical concerts at the Royal Court Theatre. There's also the chance to unwind at the Mareel wellness spa, where you can indulge the senses and soothe mind, body, and soul with a variety of holistic treatments, as well as a Himalayan salt sauna, thermal pool and steam room.
This playlist has been created by Dave Desmond, Cunard's esteemed Musical Director. "Our new ship Queen Anne embarks on her maiden voyage in May and this playlist is an exclusive sample of the eclectic musical styles guests will enjoy on board," he says. "From hugely talented artists who have performed with Cunard before to superstars we would love to have headlining our venues, these songs are a great mix of the classic and the contemporary.
