Henry Poole & Co cuts a streamlined suit for Jaguar TCS Racing's James Barclay

Talk about streamlined tailoring. Savile Row tailoring house, and long-time Walpole member, Henry Poole & Co, has spent the past few months creating a bespoke dinner jacket and sleek lightweight suit for Jaguar TCS Racing to create Team Principal, James Barclay. The brief? Not dissimilar to most modern men who travel regularly for their careers: Barclay needed smart clothing that could be sported in a variety of climates all around the world. The only difference, of course, being that Barclay's destinations are all the races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, hosted in Hyderabad, Cape Town, Jakarta, and São Paulo. 

Recognised as the originator of the modern tuxedo suit (after the Prince of Wales and future King Edward VII asked his tailor, Henry Poole, to cut him a short coat he could wear at informal dinners at Sandringham back in 1865), the team at Henry Poole & Co applied the house's signature style to create two exclusive designs using the highest quality fabrics: a dinner jacket cut from midnight blue Barathea 120s worsted wool, and a dark blue mid-weight suit made from 100s wool and cashmere.

The collaboration signals the coming together of two British brands that share a heritage and a passion for excellence. Established in 1806, Henry Poole & Co has a long history of offering the very best in fine British tailoring, while Jaguar has a rich motorsport history that has informed the evolution of its road cars.
