Since March 2019, Freight Brokers has been the only courier service in the world that can promise carbon neutrality at no extra cost to their clients. Now the courier broker has announced it is increasing the amount of CO2 emissions it offsets for its clients from 125 per cent to 150 per cent.
The company's ultimate goal is to become 250 per cent climate positive by 2025.
Founded in 2005 with a client base of over 300 companies, Freight Brokers has already offset over 5.5 million kilograms of its clients' carbon emissions. That's the equivalent of neutralising 8,142 flights from London to New York.
So, how does it work? If your shipment is responsible for emitting 1000kg of CO2, Freight Brokers will offset 1500kg by purchasing carbon credits (through United Nations Carbon Offset Platform) by investing in climate protection projects specifically selected by the courier company, such as a wind farms or biomass power plants, that reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. The calculation of those carbon emissions is verified annually by SGS, an independent auditor.
Not only will Freight Brokers supply climate positive stickers for your packages so your customers are aware the shipment has been made using their climate positive service, but the company will also keep you updated about new climate projects and the progress of existing ones.
