Walpole: In a world where we’re always available, how do you separate your personal time from your work time?
Saffron Hocking: This is a tricky one because I genuinely love what I do so much that my personal and work time often feels like it interlinks. I think when I am having time with my family and friends, I put my phone away and do my best to be present. I also spend the majority of my time in pyjamas too.
What’s one thing you do after the work day to help you unwind?
It’s a real old English cliché, but a cup of tea. My tea game is wild! I have one for every single mood.
What activity do you do in your time away from work that helps you relax and recentre after a stressful week?
I love walking. I often take my cats for a walk in the park on their leads, then I go to the sauna. Not with the cats, obviously.
What’s something you’ve read, listened to or seen in your spare time that’s helped you at work?
I think as an actor you constantly need to feel inspired by things you watch and think to yourself, 'Wow, I would really love to be a part of something like that'. I recently watched Bad Sisters on Apple TV+. I was in awe of the writing, especially for women and the complex, hilarious female characters. The performances were out of this world too.
After home and your workspace, where’s your favourite third space?
I love Greenwich Park. It reminds me of my childhood and it’s just so beautiful in every single season.
On Sunday night, how do you prepare yourself for the week ahead?
I do my extended version of my skincare routine, which I take very seriously! I think if you feel good then good things happen. I then look over my calendar at what I have coming up that week and figure out how best to approach each thing with the most ease.
Best reason you've had to turn your Out of Office on recently?
Holiday!
Your go-to Out of Office outfit: a cosy two-piece or a tracksuit.
Your happy place anywhere in the world: Thailand. I’ve been going there since I was a child and it feels like a second home. I just love the culture, the people and, of course, the food.
Your favourite bar or restaurant: I am obsessed with Padella pasta. I order it all - genuinely! I can’t just pick one.
Something you booked recently that you'd recommend: Reformer Pilates. I tried it for the first time recently and couldn’t believe how stiff I was. After a few classes I can already see an improvement in my posture and flexibility – plus it’s great for toning.
Something you've listened to or read recently that you'd recommend: I recently discovered the singer Self Esteem and have had her album on repeat. She is the voice I think every young person in their formative years should listen to.
A hobby you'd like to cultivate: I would love to learn how to play an instrument. I think my hands might be too small but it would be so cool to play the piano at a dinner party to show off.
A luxury that’s actually a necessity: Cleanser. If I can pick two things I would say a good cleanser and a good moisturiser. It is so important to look after your skin.
Best luxury under £25: I am obsessed with lipgloss. I think if you whack on a good lip-gloss, it can transform your face and instantly make you light up. My go-to is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Ibiza Nights.
