The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle curates our latest playlist

27th June 2025

After a high-pressure week of meetings, management and making connections, the best way to unwind is to plug in your headphones and allow a superb selection of tunes to take your brain far away from the world of work. Enter the Walpole Weekend Wind-Down: a monthly playlist of tracks created by one of our members or partners that will help you transition into an end-of-week headspace.

Our July edition has been curated by The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle in celebration of the Scottish private members club's 30th birthday. Situated in the heart of the Highlands on an 8,000-acre estate, The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle offers a complete escape for guests – a sanctuary for community, tradition, and shared values.

Surrounded by breathtaking landscape – with moorland, woodland and Loch Evelix to enjoy – the club is home to luxurious accommodation, exceptional fine dining, world-class golfing and an expansive choice of leisure activities to enjoy, suited to those in search of adventure, relaxation and a truly remarkable experience.

"I’ve had the pleasure of working at The Carnegie Club for 21 years, and in that time, I’ve come to truly appreciate the heritage, the setting, and most importantly, the sense of belonging that the club offers our members," says Gary Gruber, the club's Managing Director. "We’re committed to carefully curating moments through exclusive collaborations, events, and partnerships that offer members something truly unique. Whether it’s a bespoke product or an unforgettable experience, we’re showing that The Carnegie Club isn’t just a retreat, it’s a place to build lasting connections for the years to come."

To honour the occasion, the club will be celebrating with events that capture the spirit and elegance of Skibo, as well as a series of unique collaborations that pay tribute to the Club’s extraordinary legacy. From a bespoke, one-of-a-kind collection jewellery collaboration with fellow Walpole member Garrard (pictured above) to a series of member garden parties to specially crafted experiences (such as a celebration aboard the Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train) and an exclusive limited-edition 30-year-old single malt whisky created with Gordon & MacPhail, it's going to be an exciting – and busy – year for the team. Which makes it all the more special that Gruber has found the time to put together the commemorative playlist you'll find below.

"Our heritage inspires each track I've selected, the unique experiences we offer, and the connections we’ve fostered over the years here at the Club," says Gruber.

"Just as our members come together to create unforgettable memories, this playlist invites you to celebrate with us, as we honour our past and embrace the future. Whether members are listening to resident Musician Martin play the organ in the Great Hall, enjoying afternoon tea on the front lawn or sipping a dram in the Whisky Library, we think there is something for everyone."
