Walpole: In a world where we’re always available, how do you separate your personal time from your work time?
Griselda Yorke: One of the blessings of having three children is that personal time is full and busy. To be honest, I’m not great at switching off from work. I receive a "show report" from the stage manager on each of the shows that I'm working on at about 10:30pm and once I know that everything has gone smoothly on the shows, then at least I'm only worrying about what's coming up!
What’s one thing you do after the workday to help you unwind?
My husband works in theatre too, so we will usually do a big old download of the day at whatever time we are both finished - whether that's at the end of a working day or late at night at the end of a show.
What activity do you do in your time away from the office that helps you relax and recentre after a stressful week?
I love to cook. I'm never happier than cooking a big meal for family and close friends, sitting around a big table chatting – and then kicking back while somebody else does the washing up!
What’s something you’ve read, listened to, or seen in your spare time that’s helped you at work?
Two books that I've read and taken ideas from recently include Radical Candour by Kim Scott and Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss.
After home and the office, where’s your favourite ‘third space’?
I love a good long walk. Doesn't really matter to me where!
On Sunday night, how do you prepare yourself for the week ahead?
There's usually quite a lot of working out who needs to be where and when. And I like to wear a white shirt, so I will also make sure I've got enough of those cleaned and ironed.
Best reason you've had to turn your Out of Office on recently?
My youngest daughter had her enrolment day at secondary school a few weeks ago. It can be quite a daunting experience, but she loved it and was so excited to start – which is just lovely.
