The Power List Rainmakers: Dan Jago

What does it mean to you to be named in the Walpole 2022 Power List?

It’s a great honour, but I suspect more a recognition of the pre-eminence of the Purdey brand than of me. There are so many amazing people working for Walpole member companies that it’s lovely to be included in this group.

What have you and your business achieved in the past year that you are most proud of?

It’s been a year of real progress on so many fronts, despite the obvious challenges of reaching customers and potential clients. Across all the three principal areas of our business – gunmaking, clothing and shooting experiences – we have delivered beyond expectations and come together as one team. We’ve proved that sustainability is at our core and we also use the Purdey Awards to raise awareness of the conservation work that goes on every day in the countryside.

What is 2022 set to look like for your business?

It’s a very exciting period for Purdey – developing a whole new range of technical and lifestyle clothing, leathergoods and accessories alongside new products in the gun range means that we will all be very busy. There are lots of new faces at Purdey alongside the incredibly experienced and respected crafts people. We are ambitious in our plans for growth as well as bringing a luxury country lifestyle to more people in the UK and internationally.

What are you most looking forward to for 2022?

Hopefully being able to get out and see more customers, especially in the USA, which is our biggest International market. Covid has caused such uncertainty in planning events, travel and activity, that I look forward to nations getting it under control!
