What does it mean to you to be named in the Walpole 2022 Power List?
It is an absolute honour. I have always believed in learning from the past, to offer a different perspective in the present, always in mind for a better future. To be able to pioneer new ideas, innovations and forge a path that leads the way to a more ethical and sustainable chapter in my industry is what makes every day exciting.
What have you and your team achieved in the past year that you are most proud of?
I am most proud of my team working together to continue to let our passion and ethos lead and drive forward the business with unwavering compromise – and to be able to continue to support all of the communities and initiatives we have committed to during an extraordinary two years. That's what makes every day meaningful. From opening a new flagship boutique at 35b Sloane Street in the midst of a global pandemic to launching a shoppable virtual reality store, and introducing our Ocean Initiative planting over 4500 mangrove sea trees in West Papua, Indonesia in three months (equating to 4500 tonnes of CO2 stored from the atmosphere). Also supporting 10 local charities with global impact worldwide. They say you don’t rise to the level of your goals, but you fall to the level of your systems and I am most proud and grateful to my small-yet-mighty team in 2021.
What is 2022 set to look like for your business?
Exciting! We will be exploring further afield to new territories starting with our one-year residency in Dubai (which opened in October 2021), launching in India in December and more exciting plans to come throughout 2022.
What are you most looking forward to professionally for 2022?
In 2022 I’m excited to launch a new parallel start-up material science company and our own laboratory focused on sustainable circular innovations.
And personally?
Before the pandemic I used to work seven days a week and weave in family time in-between, but since the lockdowns of 2020 my husband and I decided to dedicate our weekends fully to our children and we couldn't be happier with this newfound balance. I’m excited to continue our weekend adventures with our four-year-old daughter Valentine and two-year-old son Hendrick, from museums in London to exploring the British countryside. Also I’d like to learn how to drive so I can help with the school runs on a rainy day!
