Walpole: In a world where we’re always available, how do you separate your personal time from your work time?
Lance Patterson: That is a challenge! My phone is omni-present, but the most effective way I have found is to play a game with my son. At the moment he is loving checkers and Minecraft.
What’s one thing you do after the workday to help you unwind?
Eat dinner with my family. We always sit down together at 7pm.
What activity do you do in your time away from the office that helps you relax and recentre after a stressful week?
Playing tennis and gardening.

My garden. I wander around and sit on the benches I have placed throughout to be able to observe it all from a distance.

A good Netflix series, especially period dramas.
Best reason you've had to turn your Out of Office on recently?
My son's half-term Chapel Service. The chapel is beautiful and listening to the children singing is so special.
