In a world where we’re always available, how do you separate your personal time from your work time?
I often try and explain to my friends what a fast-paced world the flower business can be. Working in the luxury market with many private clients’ lines do get blurred between our open and closed times and my WhatsApp is always busy. I am not particularly good at switching off, and it is something I am looking to improve in 2025. I have started to put my phone away after 8pm and only check for urgent things.
What’s one thing you do after the workday to help you unwind?
Working in the events industry, I spend a lot of time on my feet and some days I can clock up to 30,000 steps. So I love a long soak in the bath with my favourite bath bomb and scented candle. I also enjoy a good Netflix series and a cuddle on the sofa with my three dogs.
What activity do you do in your time away from the office that helps you relax and recentre after a stressful week?
I have always enjoyed long walks. A good podcast on a dog walk always helps me to decompress and it takes mind off work. My husband and I often treat ourselves to professional massage therapist at home. I am also addicted to reflexology.
What’s something you’ve read, listened to, or seen in your spare time that’s helped you at work?
I am currently really enjoying The Feminine Millionaire Show with Polly Alexandre.
After home and the office, where is your favourite ‘third space’?
Wandsworth Common, right next to our house, is my favourite third space. Over the years, we have watched our kids grow up on the common, playing, learning to cycle and walking the dogs. My husband and I grab a coffee at our favourite coffee shop and do our regular walk around the park, finishing at the duck pond. We have covered every inch of that park over the years.
On Sunday night, how do you prepare yourself for the week ahead?
I savour the last of the weekend and try to avoid getting too deep into work thoughts. Sunday dinner, a nice long bath, and I prepare my clothes for the morning. I always schedule two hours early Monday to plan my week. Sundays are not for work.
Best reason you have had to turn your out of office on recently?
We had an incredibly busy Christmas season – and our best yet. So, when I finished working for the break, my husband, daughter, three dogs and I packed up the car to driving to Ibiza for Christmas. I was relieved to turn my out of office on!
