On Tuesday 19th March 2024, a selection of Walpole members and friends gathered in the Royal Academy of Arts on Piccadilly in London for the launch of our landmark new study, Luxury in the Making, which explores the far-reaching economic impact and contribution of the luxury sector to Britain, through the lens of employment and skills.

After a light breakfast of coffee and muffins, guests took their seats in the auspicious surroundings of the state-of-the-art Benjamin West Lecture Theatre (designed by Royal Academician, Sir David Chipperfield, in 2018 as part of the RA’s 250th anniversary celebrations) as Walpole Chief Executive Helen Brocklebank introduced the key statistics and conclusions of the study.

Following this, Walpole's Charlotte Keesing compered a discussion about the topics raised in the study, featuring a panel of esteemed Walpole member executives: Richard Brendon, Founder of ceramics and glassware studio, Richard Brendon; Lisa Montague, CEO of Sanderson Design Group; and Andrew Carter, CEO of Kent winemaker Chapel Down.
