ELLE UK

When ELLE launched in 1985, editor Brandon Holley explained its unique place in publishing: “There was a whole new generation [of women] fumbling its way towards tomorrow. ELLE UK was the first mainstream magazine to act as a voice for that generation.” 40 years on and that’s still the case. ELLE has always been ahead of its time, exploring fashion within the context of the world we live in from the ever-evolving ways we dress and express ourselves to sweeping cultural and societal changes. Its approach to fashion, beauty, travel and culture is characterised by joy, possibility and a greater sense of inclusivity.

The pages of ELLE bring to life not just the latest in fashion and beauty with eye-catching shoots and bold photography but also explore the conversations women are having, or are about to have. From in-depth investigations into women’s roles in the evolution of AI to lyrical features by the likes of Jeanette Winterson and Zadie Smith, storytelling in all its forms is central to ELLE’s DNA.

The brand has grown since author and journalist Kenya Hunt took on the role of Editor-In-Chief in 2022, adding touchpoints that deepen engagement with its audience. They include the successful launch of ELLE COLLECTIVE, a membership community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers who come together for events, benefits and exclusive content; the return of the ELLE Style Awards, which celebrates the best of British fashion and culture; and the launch of the Generation Next mentoring scheme and cash bursary, supporting rising talent in fashion and media. The brand has also expanded its digital world with the podcast Why I…Move and two recently launched newsletters, Dress Code and Agenda. The brand celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025, with a range of special covers, issues and events that will look forward to the next four decades and the ELLE women who will be defining them.
