Harper's Bazaar

Founded in 1867, Harper’s Bazaar is the world’s longest-running style magazine, offering an intelligent take on fashion alongside authoritative coverage on beauty, travel, interiors, art and culture. The publication’s very first editor, Mary Louise Booth, was active in the suffrage movement and championed women’s rights from the outset – a theme that remains threaded into every issue today, whether through the Bazaar At Work programme aimed at ambitious professional women or through interviews with inspirational female figures from the worlds of politics, fashion, film, business and beyond. A valued partner to leading fashion, jewellery and beauty brands, Bazaar is synonymous with luxury, showcasing a thoughtful edit of new-season designs and investment purchases each month.

The magazine has a long association with art and literature (previous contributors include artists from Andy Warhol to Yoko Ono, and writers from Virginia Woolf to Margaret Atwood) that gives it a unique cultural standing, while its back catalogue of travel writing includes luminaries from Vita Sackville-West to, recently, Diana Evans, Gwyneth Paltrow and Clare Waight-Keller.

Since 2019, the magazine and its associated digital platforms have been edited by Lydia Slater, an experienced journalist, fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and member of Walpole’s advisory council, who has maintained and enhanced the title’s reputation for uniting style with substance. Most recently, she has launched Harper’s Bazaar Privé, the brand’s first members’ club, offering an exclusive community access to a series of glamorous, money-can’t-buy private events that take them inside the world of Bazaar.
