Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen shows are known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections. Integral to the McQueen culture is the juxtaposition between contrasting elements: fragility and strength, tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity. An openly emotional and even passionate viewpoint is realised with a profound respect and influence for the arts and crafts tradition. McQueen’s collections combine an in-depth working knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, fine workmanship and the impeccable finish of Italian manufacturing. Sarah Burton who joined the company in 1996 and has worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years was subsequently appointed Creative Director of the brand in May 2010 following the passing of Lee McQueen in February 2010. Since her appointment, Burton continues to produce acclaimed collections with a focus on handcraft, establishing herself as an accomplished designer with artisan and technical excellence. Today Alexander McQueen designs, manufactures and distributes 4 collections for women’ s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories and is represented with 58 stores worldwide in cities which include New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Paris, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. Alexander McQueen is part of the Kering Group, a world leader in apparel and accessories which develops an ensemble of powerful Luxury and Sport & Lifestyle brands.
