In 1698, the year St James’s Palace became the principal residence for the Royal Court, an enterprising widow by the name of Bourne opened her emporium to sell exotic goods imported from overseas. It was known by the sign of the Coffee Mill, and its address was No.3 St James’s Street.

More than three centuries later, the shop remains, though it’s no longer possible to purchase coffee, tea, or spices from these premises. Instead, you can now find an extraordinary selection of the world’s finest wines and spirits at Berry Bros. & Rudd. Their Masters of Wine and spirits experts explore the globe curating the finest producers and delivering award-winning products such as No.3 Gin, King’s Ginger and their Own Selection range. Having developed long-standing relationships with celebrated chateaux and distilleries they are ever curious to discover more. They continue to warmly welcome guests into their historic cellars and storied dining rooms which play host to the finest hospitality and experiences.

As a longstanding family business, a significant factor to their longevity is that they always serve with their family values of passion, integrity, and generosity of spirit in mind. Change is important to them, and they have been guided by listening to their customers’ wants, serving their producers well, and paying attention to the wider world changing around them – as they always will be. Part of that change is continually driving sustainability, and ensuring the business is a force for good in the world, with a positive, and lasting impact on people and planet.

And as a global business, their impact extends far beyond the corner of St James’s Street and Pall Mall where their shop is based. They have offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore, as well as a majority share of Hotaling & Co. Distillery in San Francisco. They proudly serve customers from around the world, who share their passion and curiosity for the sublime wonders produced from the humble grape and grain and continue to supply the British Royal Family, as they have done since the reign of King George III.

Whether to be savoured or shared, Berry Bros. & Rudd is committed to helping customers drink better, now and in the future.
