The Itinerary
Saturday
Touch down in snow blanketed Keflavík as you starting your seven day itinerary exploring Iceland’s Golden Circle. To begin, you will visit Raufarhólshellir, a lava tunnel that becomes filled with ice stalactites and stalagmites in winter. Then, experience the dramatic windswept landscape as you head to Thingvellir National Park before staying at Torfhús Retreat, where traditional Icelandic culture meets modern luxury. Here, you can warm up in the geothermically heated hot pools.
Sunday
After breakfast, head out into the Golden Circle and enjoy a high-octane ride over a glacier to Geysir, home to spouting geysers with the most energetic reaching a height of 40 meters. Then visit the Gullfoss waterfall, which cascades 32 metres into the canyon below, before finishing the day snowmobiling over Langjökull glacier with views of the snowcapped Kerlingafjöll mountain range.
Monday
The last few days have shown you sublime landscapes, but now it’s time for the south shore of Iceland, famous for its mythical beauty and black, sandy beaches. Stay at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, which situated between Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon – two of Iceland's most spectacular natural attractions.
Tuesday
First stop is Jökulsárlón, the deepest lake in Iceland that is connected to the ocean. Watch blue-tinted icebergs flow out to sea or towards the black sand of Diamond Beach. Then head to the Crystal Ice Caves within Vatnajokull Glacier. These natural ice caves are only formed when temperatures start cooling – a winter exclusive.
Wednesday
Drive to Skaftafell and Vatnajökull national parks – one of the biggest in Europe. Here, you can choose a glacier hiking route and enjoy incredible views of snow-capped peaks and canyons. Stay at the family-run Skálakot and enjoy fine dining based on local produce as the aurora borealis dances above you.
Thursday
Surrounded by high mountains, majestic glaciers, and birch woods, Thorsmork valley is a sight to behold. End the day at Blue Lagoon Retreat Spa, which is built into an 800-year-old lava flow in the heart of an astonishing volcanic frontier. Experience geothermal treatments and treat yourself to a meal at the chef’s table.
Friday
After breakfast, set off to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula, home to one of the most dynamic landscapes in Iceland. Visit crystal-clear Kleifarvatn Lake and the Seltún – a colourful geothermal area – before heading to the black sandy beach, Selatangar. This time of the year makes the views even more spectacular!
