Saturday
After an easy flight to St. John’s, a private driver will transport us to The Inn by Mallard Cottage. Following a leisurely breakfast, we will enjoy a guided hike up Signal Hill for panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, and end the day at Mallard Cottage for some fresh catch and hearty local fare.
Sunday
A private guide with take us to the East Coast Trail for a scenic coastline hike through the Canadian wilderness and vibrant foliage. This picturesque stroll will end at Cape Spear Lighthouse, where we can gaze out at the floating icebergs and catch sight of the majestic humpback whales.
Monday
We will enjoy the mesmerising aerial views of seabirds and marine life with a private helicopter ride to Fogo Island, before landing at Fogo Island Inn. Here, we will explore the area’s local landmarks, historic sights and natural wonders for a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.
Tuesday
We will see the awe-inspiring ancient glacier, Iceberg Alley, followed by a champagne picnic lunch at Little Fogo Island. We'll then take a stroll to the historic St. Anne’s Church before ending the evening with a world-class dinner by resident Executive Chef Timothy Charles.
Wednesday
Todd Saunders, the mastermind behind Fogo Island Inn, has a striking artist's studio nearby. We will discover its pristine architectural features in the day, followed by a private cocktail lesson. Here, we will learn to learn how to craft our signature concoctions with locally-sourced ingredients, learning about Fogo Island’s emphasis on locality along the way.
Thursday
Autumn’s bountiful berry season presents the perfect opportunity to forage marsh berries, crowberries, bakeapples and partridgeberries in the wild. We'll come in from the cold to end the evening with a private screening of ‘Fogo Process’ in the state-of-the-art onsite digital cinema to learn about the stories and history behind the lands we've been journeying across.
Friday
We will indulge in one last exquisite breakfast by Chef Timothy Charles over breathtaking landscapes of the Atlantic Ocean before bidding farewell to Newfoundland’s autumnal beauty.
Your essential travel companion: A lined Barbour jacket will keep you cozy from Newfoundland's northern winds, while its removable vest will keep you cool in the midday sunshine. Binoculars are also an essential to get a closer look at the striking humpback whales and seabirds that are native to Newfoundland.
A culinary curiosity not to be missed: Newfoundland's fresh seafood. If you’re feeling adventurous, sample moose meat, often found in the form of a burger or sausage.
The best spot for a post-prandial pause: Grab a coffee post-lunch and admire the lovely Victorian homes on ‘Jellybean Row’ – a vibrant collection of brightly coloured homes.
An unmissable event: September is one of the best months to go whale watching in Newfoundland as the world’s largest population of humpback whales return each year around this time. Whether you’re walking along coastline trails or going on a thrilling boat tour, be sure to catch a glimpse of the majestic animal for a spectacularly moving experience. If you’re in Fogo Island in mid-October, check out the annual Fogo Island Partridgeberry Harvest Festival, which features artisan market, live music, and culinary delights made with local berries.
