Meet the Team Get to know Olivia Sim, Walpole's Corporate Affairs Assistant

When did you join Walpole and how did you come to work here?

I joined Walpole last December as an intern shortly after graduating from the University of St Andrews and now work in the brilliant Corporate Affairs and Publicy Policy team alongside Charlotte Keesing and Carly von Speyr.

What do you do at Walpole?

My day-to-day role entails producing an internal press coverage report for the team on relevant news stories concerning the British luxury sector and providing administrative and research assistance to the Corporate Affairs team’s upcoming projects. I am also proud to be involved in a number of Walpole’s programmes such as our partnership with LBS and our speakers programme with the Chelsea Academy.

My primary focus recently has been helping to organise Walpole’s ninth round of Sustainability Working Groups. These groups have developed significantly since they began two years ago and are a valuable forum for shared expertise and best practice across the membership community.

What’s your favourite aspect of the job?

The people! Walpole is unique in its ability to bring together a huge variety of people with a shared passion for luxury in order to tackle common challenges and celebrate our successes. It's no wonder that our expansive membership is often considered the ‘Walpole Family’ as that’s exactly what our team feels like: caring, supportive and not afraid to challenge each other. Getting to attend events at our glamourous member venues isn’t half bad either!

Quickfire questions:

The best place for a work breakfast in London is: Outside at Colbert, Sloane Square. (Perfect for quick service and a spot of people watching).

My office beverage of choice is: A skinny flat white.

The last thing I read or listened to on my commute was: Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. Pre-warning, I can guarantee it will have you feeling all the emotions on the tube pre-9am!

The ultimate luxury under £25 is: A cinnamon roll from Buns from Home.
