William Bain has been Policy Advisor – Europe and International for the British Retail Consortium since 2017.
Formerly an academic, politician, and consultant, he provides insight on EU and RoW Trade Policy from more than 10 years as a lecturer in Public and EU Law and over 5 years at Westminster as Labour MP for Glasgow North East. William was also a member of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee and a shadow Minister for Food and Farming, Transport, and Scotland during the 2010-15 Parliament, advising companies on financial services and Brexit.
An Honours and Masters graduate in Law from the University of Strathclyde, he has written and lectured widely on European and UK politics and public policy.
