European Union

Walpole is a founder of the European Cultural and Creative Industries Alliance (ECCIA), composed of the seven national European luxury goods and creative industries organisations: Walpole; Circulo Fortuny (Spain); Laurel (Portugal); Comité Colbert (France); Fondazione Altagamma (Italy); Meisterkreis (Germany); and Gustaf III Kommitté (Sweden). Collectively ECCIA represents the interests of high end creative and cultural businesses in Brussels, working to understand EU regulation, legislation and policy change that affects your business. ECCIA’s work falls into five main areas:
Sustainability & the European Green Deal
Protection of IP & governance of the internet
Market access & tourism
The skills of those working in the sector
Highlighting the role of the cultural & creative industries
In 2024, Walpole took on the Presidency of ECCIA. While outside of the EU, many EU regulations still affect UK businesses, for whom Europe is a key export market. As such Walpole works actively in Brussels, campaigning to change regulations and policies that hamper our members’ ability to do business.

If you would like to get involved in our work on any of these issues, please get in touch with our Policy Team.
