A Season of Luxury

Celebrate with... Catherine Archer, CEO of JING Tea

Forget mulled wine, the only hot beverage you need to consider this Christmas is JING, purveyors of the finest hand-picked tea and accessories (we are big fans here at Walpole HQ). To mark the fifth day of a Season of Luxury, we spoke with the brand's CEO Catherine Archer on her festive plans, why she will be swapping London for Yorkshire, and the opening of JING's first-ever shop in the capital's Belgravia.

All I want for Christmas is…

Time with loved ones – it’s such a treat to all be off and have time to really relax together. I spend hours by the Aga chatting and drinking tea with people.

How will you be celebrating Christmas this year?

Enjoying a very traditional Christmas on my parents’ farm in Yorkshire.

Your favourite Christmas tradition?

All the family together opening stockings first thing on Christmas morning, it’s such a lovely moment I’ve always treasured.

Favourite festive film or song?

The Pogues' Fairytale of New York – the first time I hear it each year it feels like it’s time to start winding down and celebrating.

Best place to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere?

Being in the countryside is what Christmas is about for me. No matter where we are around the globe, friends and family all head back to Yorkshire over the festive period – it’s rather like a little time warp and I love it.

Top tip for surviving the festive season in style?

Packing two important things: 1) Running shoes in a vain attempt to wear off a little of the food and drink.  2) A selection of our JING loose leaf tea sachets so that I can decompress in the best way possible!

Festive news from JING

This Saturday 7th December, Katie from London Calligraphy will provide complimentary personalisation on all JING tea caddies, new JING tote bags and gift tags in JING's new store in St Christopher's Place, W1, from 1pm to 5pm and again on Saturday 14th December.

This new store, opened last month in London’s St Christopher’s Place, brings the brand’s definitive tea experience direct to the consumer. ‘Tea flights’ – immersive tastings led by trained JING experts – are hosted in store, taking customers on a unique sensory journey of the people, places and artisan processes that make JING teas exceptional.

A double-fronted retail space showcases JING’s carefully selected single garden teas and aesthetic teaware in a contemporary environment that encourages exploration, learning and a real connection with the origins of tea. A highly trained retail team of tea experts is on hand to help customers select and learn how to make the perfect cup of tea easily at home, using the brand’s modern teaware designs that simplify the process. New, bookable ‘Tea Flights’ take small groups on a tasting experience that brings to life the purity and depth of flavour that is driven by the high quality of JING’s teas. The 45-minute contemporary tea flights inspire customers to try teas that may be unknown to

them and to experience some of Asia’s most special teas at the in-store tasting bar.
