Cookson Adventures sees a rise in celebratory family reunion trips

Since the start of the year, Cookson Adventures has seen a 27 percent increase in requests for family reunion trips that aim to make up for milestone birthdays and occasions that they missed out on celebrating in 2020.

Nick Davies, Director of Sales at Cookson Adventures, has said: “These requests are often multigenerational families who are travelling to isolated locations such as private islands or remote yachting destinations, to celebrate in complete safety and privacy — with no expense spared.

“Because of this, we’ve put together a collection of celebratory adventure concepts to showcase how others can also make up for lost time this coming year.”

The trend follows Cookson Adventures’ recent appointment of Kerry Dunlop as Senior Project Designer to the team. Raised in the wild stretches of South Africa and Malawi, she has over 20 years’ experience in delivering highly imaginative events such as launch campaigns, corporate conferences and celebratory dinners for a UHNW clientele.

Heli-safaris & hedonism in Botswana
From Burning Man style parties in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans to surprise orchestral performances on islands in the Okavango Delta — Botswana’s unspoilt wilderness will be your group’s canvas. With helicopters at the standby, Cookson can lead you to secret watering holes or the otherwise inaccessible Tsodilo rock art, dating back nearly 100,000 years. Your base will be a bespoke fly camp that Cookson has built to your group’s exact requirements. From there, explore this maze of reed-clad waterways by everything from hot air balloon to
motorised boat and dugout canoe. You’ll end each night looking up at the stars and hearing lions roaring throughout the night.

Let nature set the scene in Iceland
The beauty of Iceland is that each of its landscapes is as unique and dramatic as the last. Whether you’re enjoying a champagne lunch backdropped by a glistening blue glacier, or flying over a raging volcano that’s only just erupted after 800 years, this is truly the Land of Fire and Ice. Whisk your family to Europe’s wildest reaches to kayak on glacial lagoons, go ice caving and snorkel
with humpback whales. Cookson can lead you deep into its interior by heli, buggy or 4×4 while on the search for geysers and waterfalls of mammoth proportions.

Party at a private archipelago in Panama
Let life get wild at a private archipelago in Panama, with 14 jungle-covered islands for you to enjoy to yourselves. Diving trips to quiet manta ray spots, humpback whale tracking, deep sea fishing and themed nightly celebrations — it’ll be the reunion your family deserves. Pair up with world-class dive instructors before enjoying exclusive access to one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world, spotting eagle rays, pods of dolphins and masses of tropical fish just moments from your own shores.

Ibiza, served with a Cookson twist
Fly to a private Ibizan island with the party planning skills of Cookson Adventures behind you, and there will be moments talked about for years to come. From bespoke sailing races to beach-hopping treasure hunts that lead you to world-known DJs hidden in caves, you set the tune and Cookson will follow. Aside from the fiestas, you’ll have access to your own motor yacht, a helicopter and two tenders, which will make hopping between dots on the itinerary all the more seamless. And, whether you’re more sunset or sunrise, views of either will blow you away here. Its modern villa is fully staffed and leads straight to the island’s lighthouse, private pool and outdoor fitness area.

Murder mystery cruise on the Egyptian Nile
Cruise along the most historic river in the world in a private river boat and gain special access to one of the greatest civilisations our world has ever known: Ancient Egypt. Cookson will give you a behind-the-scenes look at active excavations or new finds with a leading archaeologist, an after-hours visit to the Egyptian Museum or the opening of closed tombs in the Valley of the Kings. And, where Agatha Christie wrote her epic Death on the Nile, get stuck into a murder mystery as you cruise along the most historic river in the world. With a storyline that twists with every turn of the river, you’ll be turning on your inner circle before the night is over.
