Welcome to Walpole Introducing Range Rover, our latest Walpole member

After most recently moving to a House of Brands approach, Jaguar Land Rover have chosen to individually amplify the unique character of each of their brands - Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar. Range Rover specifically, is the UK’s biggest luxury export. It leads by example with reductive designs, connected modernist interiors and electrified performance.

As part of a sustainability-rich vision of modern luxury by design, every Range Rover is currently available as an electric hybrid. The first of its next generation medium-size modern luxury SUVs will be an all-electric model from the Range Rover family, launching in 2024.

Learn a little more about our latest addition to the Walpole family in our interview with Laura Wood, JLR's Director of Global Brand Partnerships, Experience and Collections at JLR.

Walpole: Tell us about the history of your brand…

Laura Wood: The Range Rover was created in 1970. A masterpiece of industrial design, it was the first luxury SUV – able to go anywhere and be at home everywhere. It has become a modern luxury icon. Today, Range Rover is a family of vehicles in the JLR house of brands. Every Range Rover leads by example with modernist design, connected, refined interiors and electrified performance driving unrivalled luxury.

What is your brand best known for?

Range Rover is embedded in British culture and means so many things to different people. As a royal warrant holder, Range Rover has served the royal family for decades and has been embraced by leaders in business, culture and entertainment globally.

What has been a significant achievement in your company’s timeline?

The fifth generation of our flagship luxury SUV took Range Rover’s modernist design philosophy to the next level, with a contemporary interpretation of its trademark profile and seamless technology. It took my breath away when I saw it in the design studio for the first time and it still does when I see it on the road. It really is peerless. The evening we unveiled it to the world from the Royal Opera House in London was truly unforgettable.

Why do you love the brand?

I especially love the Range Rover brand for its integrity. The brand has a genuine presence in global culture with a rich history. It leads the way: when anyone thinks of a luxury SUV, they think of Range Rover.

Why does your brand represent the very best in British luxury?

Range Rover leads by example with breathtaking modernity, peerless refinement and unmatched capability, informed by more than 50 years of evolution. It is the perfect articulation of our vision to create the most desirable luxury vehicles for our most discerning clients.

What attracted you to becoming a Walpole member?

Range Rover and Walpole share so many values. Many of our clients and partners will be members of or interested in Walpole. As Range Rover continues its modern luxury journey, we proudly stand alongside other British luxury brands and enterprises such as Walpole.

If you could collaborate with another Walpole member, which one would you choose (and what would you like to do)?

So many exciting brands are Walpole members. Range Rover has so much depth that the possibilities are endless. I look forward to meeting each of the members and looking at how we can support each other and collaborate to showcase British luxury design.

Tell us about an exciting development or new launch for your brand in the coming months?

At the end of this year, the new fully electric Range Rover will be available to pre-order in selected markets. It is a huge part of our commitment to offer fully electric versions of all our models by 2030.
