The Royal Wedding Fortnum & Mason

As the world looks to England ahead of the Royal Wedding, grocer to the Royal family Fortnum & Mason has prepared for the celebrations with exclusive new services and gifts. With its 311-year heritage Fortnum’s has served 12 monarchs, and today holds two Royal warrants – one from Her Majesty The Queen and the other from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. The Piccadilly flagship, opened in 1707, is a one stop destination for those travelling to the capital for the festivities with its six floors of fine foods, gifts and iconic wicker food hampers.

On Saturday 19th May, between 11am to 2pm, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon will host a special screening of the wedding whilst serving this afternoon tea menu for guests to truly celebrate the occasion.

Fortnum’s world-famous tea blends, sourced from the four corners of the globe, have long been created for members of the Royal family. Continuing in this tradition, and to mark the union of His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Miss Meghan Markle, the Wedding Bouquet Blend (£12.50) has been exclusively created as a limited edition, marrying both English and American-grown mint, the blend is perfectly balanced with the addition of Jasmine green tea rose petals. A collection of fine bone china (starting from £17.50) has been created by Fortnum’s with William Edwards – this range of tableware is skillfully hand-decorated in Stoke-on-Trent – the epicentre of the pottery industry in England. This collection features Fortnum & Mason’s signature Eau de Nil colour and intricate gold regal motifs such as crowns and thistles. These new and commemorative products are available online and in store.

A RIGHT ROYAL CELEBRATION TEA

The world-famous Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon - the jewel in the crown of the Piccadilly flagship – will delight guests with ‘A Right Royal Celebration Tea’ which has been inspired by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The tea starts with Fortnum’s elegant and complex Blanc de Blanc champagne and canapés. The canapés were created with the union in mind - classically British cucumber is topped with all American lobster and armagnac cream cheese, finished with dollops of caviar. Finger sandwiches feature Fortnum’s smoked salmon on rye, cucumber with mint cream cheese, tuna and sweetcorn and classic coronation chicken. A delicious array of patisserie has been designed exclusively for the celebration including champagne fraises des bois, tangy passionfruit curd and coconut cheesecake, orange and blossom cake and, as a nod to Miss Markle, southern velvet cake. Fortnum’s famous freshly baked scones are paired with clotted cream along with Fortnum’s strawberry preserve and lemon curd. The pièce de résistance sits proudly on the top tier. Mirroring the couple’s wedding cake flavour, a lemon and elderflower mini celebration cake will be beautifully topped with an H and an M, and ribboned with a commemorative design.

Throughout this feast, guests will be served the new Wedding Bouquet Blend which Fortnum’s has created to mark the wedding. The blend marries English and American-grown mint with jasmine green tea and rose petals. Finally, all guests will be given a caddie of Wedding Breakfast Blend to take home with them.

This special afternoon tea runs from until 31st May priced at £85 per person. For more information, please visit www.fortnumandmason.com
